A child-like pretty face , a frail body like the aged;

Vulnerable from all sides to potential molestations,

Eve-teasing, gang- rapes, likely acid-attacks and loot;

No security, no protection, no self -defensive gear-

The constant fear -not of losing her life ( she's learned

to wear it on her sleeve by now) ,but of gaining

undeserved shame and a faultless guilt;

In the life-draining process of managing

A thriving family and a nagging career;

Avoiding lopsided proposals from cheeky

Colleagues in lieu of body-groping;

Returning home tired to hostile in-laws

Gnawing piranha-like at her peace;

Thankless children and a partner

With a knack for finding faults;

Docile parents held hostage for her unfortunate birth;

The mud- slinging -a game of dodge -ball;

But she holds her ground lest any harm

Come to her baby suckling at her breast;

Braving a permanent smile etched on her clowned-up face,

Hiding an incessant live-bomb of a crying heart within;

She marches daily through it all, on her stilettos;

Programmed like a self-destructive robot obeying commands:

She's not your comic superhero- just the-girl-next- door
